Current Job Vacancy: Commerical Plumbing and Heating Engineer in Kent​

​Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 a year incl overtime (dependent on experience)
Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday (hours will vary from day to day) usually starting at 8am. 
Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays
Possible start date: Immediately

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Heating Engineer to join our growing team. The role combines the installation, maintenance, fault finding and repairs on gas and oil heating and plumbing systems and appliances. Working across various commercial & industrial establishments such as schools, leisure centres, council buildings and industrial warehouses. If you have had a minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial background, are hard-working, enthusiastic and can work autonomously as well as part of a team, then please get in touch to apply today.

Candidate Skills Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role

  • Fully conversant with fault finding of commercial heating equipment

  • An ability to work alone and make decisions when required is a must, whilst also being able to follow instructions and work as part of a team

  • Good physical strength and fitness, capable of meeting the physical demands of the work, with the ability to work in confined spaces (kneeling, crouching), working at high or low levels and prepared for all weathers 

  • Take pride in your work, with meticulous attention to detail

  • Well organised and self-motivated

  • Reliable and hard-working with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude 

  • Strong timekeeping is essential

  • Good communication and customer service skills, with a polite and friendly manner and smart appearance

  • Compliance with our policies, procedures, codes of practice and health and safety regulations at all times

  • Due to the nature of the environment, it is essential that you have the ability to pass the standard security vetting process (DBS check)

Qualifications Required

  • Hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)

  • Driving Licence

  • English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or above

  • 5 years of experience in a commercial plumbing and heating background 

  • Commercial Gas Safe Certificates 

  • OFTEC Certificates

  • Catering, Electrical would be desirable but not essential

Main Duties & Responsibilities of a Commercial Plumbing & Heating Engineer

  • Carry out planned and preventative commercial boiler maintenance

  • Carry out commercial boiler installations and commissioning

  • Commercial boiler breakdowns and repairs

  • Fault diagnostics and repairs of all commercial gas and oil boilers and industrial heating systems including condensing, forced draught, modular, radiant tube and warm air heaters

  • Installation and repairs of pipework 

  • Gas purging and tightness testing

  • Commercial plumbing system installations and repairs 

  • Safety inspections and troubleshooting

  • Emergency call outs

  • Occasional work outside of normal hours or during weekends will be expected, which will be pre-agreed and advance notice given

  • Follow safe working practices at all times and efficient use of all machinery, materials, and tools used

  • Leaving the job site clean and tidy after the work is completed

  • Opportunity to progress to a supervisory role, taking on and training your own apprentice
