LOOKING FOR COMMERCIAL HEATING ENGINEERS NEAR YOU?
WHAT CERTIFICATION DOES A COMMERCIAL HEATING ENGINEER NEED?
When searching for a commercial heating engineer it is important to make sure that they have the necessary and legal accreditation to be safely working on your gas or oil heating systems. Two of the most important and widely recognised certification bodies in the UK are Gas Safe and OFTEC.
At G.C Industrial Heating Services, all our commercial heating engineers have years of experience in their trade and meet the official industry working standards for both safety and quality. Our engineers carry their Gas Safe and OFTEC cards on them at all times and customers are encouraged to check the credentials of every heating engineer that works on their commercial property. This useful guide will help you to understand exactly what to look for on an engineer's Gas Safe ID card.
WHAT ARE GAS SAFE REGISTERED COMMERCIAL HEATING ENGINEERS?
A Gas Safe Registered engineer (formerly known as CORGI registration) means that they are legally permitted to safely install and carry out works on all commercial gas appliances or gas boilers. Gas Safe courses must be renewed every four years to enable any commercial heating engineer to maintain their Gas Safe certificate. After installing a new commercial gas appliance within a business premises, a Gas Safe heating engineer will provide a commercial gas safety certificate, which must then be renewed every 12 months. To ensure the protection of commercial businesses, every time an engineer carries out work on a gas heating appliance, they must sign the work off before reconnecting the gas supply. This ensures that the work can always be traced back to that specific tradesperson.
WHAT ARE OFTEC CERTIFIED COMMERCIAL HEATING ENGINEERS?
Whilst not a legal requirement, it is highly recommended that businesses that require any commercial heating services on an oil fired heating system, choose an OFTEC certified heating engineer (Oil Firing Technical Association). This will ensure that you have selected a competent tradesman that has been approved to install and maintain oil boilers and appliances.

At G.C Industrial Heating Services, we offer tailor made service contracts to suit every individual need for different types of businesses and varying client budgets. WHAT DOES A COMMERCIAL BOILER SERVICE INVOLVE?
During a commercial boiler service, our Oftec Registered and Gas Safe engineers will inspect all major components to carry out safety checks and ensure that they are all working at their optimum efficiency and where necessary, advise on any parts that may need replacing. Your boiler will then receive a deep clean to remove anything that may be detrimental to the efficient functioning of your heating system.
HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD YOUR COMMERCIAL BOILER BE SERVICED?
An annual boiler service is vital in maintaining efficient performance and safety of your boiler and central heating system. The professional recommendation is that a commercial boiler should be serviced at least once a year, though this will differ across different types of boilers and some may require more frequent maintenance.
If your boiler hasn’t been serviced in the last 12 months or is not working as well as it should, contact us today for your free boiler service quote.
